Resilience, not abstinence, may help teens battle online risk | Penn State University.
Generation Z or the Homeland generation are glued to their devices and will live in a world where the internet will merge with the real world. This means that also the dangers of the online world will be superimposed onto reality. We can’t abstain from the world, so abstinence will no longer be an option.
Instead of sheltering our children from exposure to less desired content, it might be more fruitful to educate them. A few years ago I suggested that “Resilience Parenting” would replace the tendency to overprotect our children. It’s nice to see that there are studies to back up this idea.
